Starting to make music in the forties, already formed as an author, with a vision of merging traditional and modern, he gave to us a few great, emotionally high and very advanced recorded country - rock albums. Old and new, on Jim White records are connected in one, while the quality of the melody and lyrics always heating up our senses, guaranteeing satisfaction :)

Anita Lane - Sex O'Clock

Dealing with the thought that the next post should be something of Serge Gainsbourg, spontaneously, I began to listen first two albums by Mick Harvey, otherwise Gainsbourg covers, enjoying in it very much. And now, faced with this new dilemma, I resorted economical solution which combines these two in a very seductive way :)

Chuck Prophet - Soap and Water

Chuck Prophet is engaged with commercial sound, there is no doubt. And it works very well. And given that a good song is imperative of any genre, and if we take as a criterion necessity for adaptation to today's sound, through production, this album stands as one of the pillars of popular music.

If by any chance, aesthetics was the most important criterion of this blog, I doubt that this album would have ended up here. If criteria is humor, it would have some chance .... And since the only criterion is the quality of the music, then I think there is no problems :)

Jarboe - Mahakali

If we take for truth the idea that people listen to the kind of music how they feel at that moment, the question is how  I feel  listening to this album? Certainly not a very calm :) Although, it's also true, that, after this i will listen, for example, Parliament, gently wiggling hips ... Now, that says more about my personality, stable in perpetual variations ... and this is precisely what can be said for Mahakali :)

Bar Kokhba - Lucifer: The Book of Angels, Vol. 10

Aesthetically, this album has a very high value. Obvious joy of playing, unencumbered by genres and appealing on first listen, it give a combination that can't fail.
One thing is for sure, if they exist at all, the people who first heard of Lucifer through this album, it will be very confused with stereotypes of the traditional understanding of the world and heaven :)

Chris Connelly - The Episodes

Some day, while I listened to this album, my mother began to talk about some TV show about Bowie ... And to my comment that it isn't he, let's say that I haven't managed to convince her :) Now, although the way of singing resembles the early phase of above-mentioned, i found it difficult to accept this kind of comparison with a little bit, at least for me, boring Ziggy Stardust, and it is even quite inappropriate to powerful and complex vision like this.
Anyway, try to listen Bowie's albums after 1974, and while accepting that they exists at all, maybe you can fill your time with this excellent album :)

Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band - Between My Head and the Sky

Typical album by Yoko Ono means atypical album for majority. Some people say that is very difficult to survive her records, and yet, for me, it seem somehow very attractive :) A long time ago, i found somewhere, otherwise excellent record "Double Fantasy," by Lennon and Yoko, and her songs are fascinated me, in a way I was deeply emotionally touched. Neither this album is no exception, very colorful in sound, when near the end sail into calmer waters, I do not know whether I want to return to the port :)

Lucinda Williams - World Without Tears

Today's post fostered a classic sound. First reason for that is music itself. Quality of interpretation here is very high. Lucinda is at the very top of the U.S. country pop/rock production, her strong personality raised her high above the average. A second, essentially, i am alternative person. But, a long time ago, I realized one thing. If I, with my alternative thinking reject everything else, i'm then conservative idiot. Not to mention the sacrifice of various pleasures....
And precisely there is the key, in pleasures. Because, Lucinda wild and melancholy world makes me very happy  :)

Hugh Hopper & Lisa S. Klossner - Cryptids

Although seemingly very hermetic album, multiple listening give to it the timeless dimension of the river that flows constantly, keeping our eyes fixed on its endless variations ...

Robert Plant & The Strange Sensation - Mighty ReArranger

Robert Plant, regardless of the demands of the time, the market and the development of production, during his long career managed something very difficult. The result of his work has always been authentic, and at the same time he respected all of the above requirements ....
Such an attitude toward work, at least for me, deserves a lot of respect in the first place, because those who have managed to achieve his whole career without any qualitative downs, there are very few. Most of losing at least a decade, failing to cope with the demands of time ... The only person I can think of, who did it successfully, is Martin Scorsese, although he's from the world of movies ...

After all, keeping in mind that Plant is sixty years old, just listen to how this album sounds. Modern, very adventurous and very strong :)

Howie B - Folk

I'm not sure what to think about this album. Sonically, the first half is like an extension of trip - hop in the early nineties, and all songs are melodically great, not only great, but also potential hits (at least in my head :). Then, a complete change of mood, did something crashed in the meantime? Dark rhythms, ambient and industrial sounds,  and in the end moving to a cosmic perspective ... Who knows...
However, after I listened to the lyrics, It was a little bit clearer (although, not so much :), maybe is this the search for the elusive freedom and satisfaction during the earthly life, an ancient theme in modern suit. And, I wonder if this album is just an electronic imprint of an ordinary lifetime :)

Free Form Funky Freqs - Urban Mythology, Vol. 1

The fact that this album is result of third meeting of these guys say a lot to us. Vernon Reid, Jamaaladeen Tacuma and Calvin Weston can play anything they want, at any time. Also, maybe they work fast, but result is very complex set of songs and nothing less than excellent.
But what is really important here, this is record of a free spirit. When you let this record loud, both body and mind are satisfied. And after all, that is all that counts :)

Pauline Oliveros - Accordion and Voice

Pauline Oliveros is extraordinary accordion player, but she doesn't respect traditional sound at all. No wonder, she's name is closely related with innovation in the fields of electronic music, improvisation, and meditative sound. The Red Krayola with Art & Language - Sighs Trapped by Liars

This is top alternative album in the year 2007. Even the fact that it sounds like a pure pop record can't deny this claim. Mayo Thompson and  "Art & Language" girls think and breathe alternatively.  Sophisticated, elusive and always in motion, this record is nothing less than pure delight.
