Don Cherry - Eternal Rhythm

Although not very oriented towards jazz, some of my favorite records belong, tentatively said, to this direction. How, you ask? The answer lies in the authors themselves, the individual musicians who understand music as something without a limitations. And Don Cherry, he is certainly one of them :)

Keith & Julie Tippett - Couple in Spirit

A man and a woman, a piano and voice, these are the frames of this great album. Does it seem too general and potentially boring?
Believe me, precisely this reaction you will not have  :)

John Stevens Away - Mutual Benefit

Monotonous travelling, from point A to point B, for me is something totally different, possibility to research endless variations. And if we blend music into that moving (we all have mini computers with us ) things get really nadreal, and this momentaly soundtrack directly have impact on reality and when you get there where you are going, you ask yourself: " How did i arrive here? " :)
And one of my favorite "teleport" soundtrack last few years was this, John Stevens "Mutual Benefit"  :)

Alice Coltrane - Journey in Satchidananda

Alice Coltrane is giant. Why? Well, try to imagine an overall sound that represents life in its essencee. Life like journey. Not an easy task. We humans are too small, our mind will always have barrier. And what about Alice? She just entered the studio and recorded this powerful pieces, i believe, without much thinking.
Alice, she must be a giant.

Eugene Chadbourne - Young and Innocent Days

Well, it's not easy to say something for the album like this. Maybe for somebody it sounds like a fooling around. But not for me :) First, this is one of most commercial Chadbourne records, he is mostly in free - country - jazz style. Second, this is a cover album, songs from '60. Psychedelic years, and that is totally respected here, in sound. Third, choice of the songs is terrific, man who understand this mix of every day problems, timeless troubles of specific era, nostalgia, hopes, human falls and small inner explosions, is emotionaly on high level, i think. And he understand, because of his interpretation, this songs had same emotional impact on me like originals, well, maybe even stronger.
So, Eugene, my Man   :)

Robert Wyatt - Ruth Is Stranger Than Richard

Robert Wyatt is very strange person, that's for sure. First time when i heard him, well, it sounded very crazy for me :) And in the same time i was fascinated. It was like cartoon, but most serious cartoon in the world, deeply emotional music.
Don't miss Wyatt in your life :)

John Zorn - The Big Gundown: John Zorn Plays the Music of Ennio Morricone (15th Anniversary Edition)

I always tought about Zorn like one of the greatest. And Morricone? Well, with his significant sound, he is deeply in world's subconscious by now. I watched “Once upon a time in the West” few days ago, that is perfect movie. Leone and Morricone made peace of art, raw model for present art. You can say: "It is classic", but once upon a time it was the universe with its own rules. Just like today's post. Morricone for 21st Century.
