Holger Czukay - On the Way to the Peak of Normal

Two days ago was my birthday, so, all in all, it wasn't bad day :) Now, the concept of birthdays is inevitably tied to the end of one and for the start of a new life cycle. And somehow our civilized way of thinking imposed to us this new beginning, to try to rein us, to become better, and that "better" is in close connection with our alignment with standards that we are currently offering. Now, how is that consistent with ourselves, the question is ...
Therefore, taking into account the above, I found a suitable choice for today's post with its Holy Grail title "On the Way to the Peak of Normal". With title, as something that is required of us, and with the music, which with its peculiarities says : " Yes, yes, maybe next year ".   :P

Czukay, master of irony  :)

Calexico - Carried to Dust

Joe Burns and John Convertino explores the possibilities of sound for nearly thirty years, and, i believe, they visited all of its fields. Also, it can be said that the quality of their work is no longer questionable...
So, the only thing we can discuss here is the relationship between the audience and their music. And if we explore relationship between this album and its consumers, and if we measure how many times a person can say, "Well, this is great" every time after  listen to it, the average score so far is infinite :) Now, you can say that i'm speaking nonsense, nothing is so good, but your argument in the present is totally negligible. So, contact me for a  twenty years approximately :)

If you did not understand, timeless music :)

Loop - A Gilded Eternity

The question is should we even theorize about this strong, repetitive and riff oriented album of British band "Loop". Its purpose is very primitive and extremely simple, you just need to unscrew it very loud :)
There is a saying " Still waters run deep." Now, what does it matter? There is nothing still in this album, nor has to do with water .. So, what i wanted to emphasize with this counter example is (at least in this case) needlessness of any allusion. I only wanted to say that raw power is, by definition, incontinent and that is "A Gilded Eternity", just a nice example of a factual situation :)

P.S.
This is the original version of the album, which is available only on vinyl and don't contain bonus tracks, the one I prefer  :)

Howie B - Folk

I'm not sure what to think about this album. Sonically, the first half is like an extension of trip - hop in the early nineties, and all songs are melodically great, not only great, but also potential hits (at least in my head :). Then, a complete change of mood, did something crashed in the meantime? Dark rhythms, ambient and industrial sounds,  and in the end moving to a cosmic perspective ... Who knows...
However, after I listened to the lyrics, It was a little bit clearer (although, not so much :), maybe is this the search for the elusive freedom and satisfaction during the earthly life, an ancient theme in modern suit. And, I wonder if this album is just an electronic imprint of an ordinary lifetime :)

Dagmar Krause - Supply and Demand

Brecht, along with Kurt Weill and Hanns Eisler wrote a number of songs, performed as part of his theater, or not. With the power of their images and messages these songs by far surpassed time in which they were written. And because of that, during the 20th century, they experienced a number of dedication from the top musicians.
However, this one is my favorite dedication. Thanks to the wonderful singer Dagmar Krause, these songs received a timeless interpretation and therefore deserved to be found here  :)
