Jim White - Drill a Hole in That Substrate and Tell Me What You See

A strange beast is this Jim White. Starting to make music in the forties, already formed as an author, with a vision of merging traditional and modern, he gave to us a few great, emotionally high and very advanced recorded country - rock albums. Old and new, on Jim White records are connected in one, while the quality of the melody and lyrics always heating up our senses, guaranteeing satisfaction :)

After all, listen to yourself :)

Lucinda Williams - World Without Tears

Today's post fostered a classic sound. First reason for that is music itself. Quality of interpretation here is very high. Lucinda is at the very top of the U.S. country pop/rock production, her strong personality raised her high above the average. A second, essentially, i am alternative person. But, a long time ago, I realized one thing. If I, with my alternative thinking reject everything else, i'm then conservative idiot. Not to mention the sacrifice of various pleasures....
And precisely there is the key, in pleasures. Because, Lucinda wild and melancholy world makes me very happy  :)

Bongwater - The Big Sell-Out

I suppose, this album owes its sound to psychedelic sound of late '60's and early '70's. But, that doesn't say that record is outdated, just the opposite, it's timeless. They dig in our past just to spoke to us in our present. Their thoughts are sharp, sometimes satiric and playing is always inspiring and imaginative. Also, this record very varied in genres, that's why it's not so easy catch. But, try to imagine everything good in popular music, probably you'll find it here.
In other words, those who think great, well, they can't go backwards :)

Mark Olson - The Salvation Blues

Whenever i'm down or when i have grey clouds above my head, this is my savior. I throw away all my alternative chains and jump into this wonderful mix of American folk and fragile melodies and i feel just like a simple human being. Sometimes, this is all we need.

Rainer Ptacek - Live at the Performance Center

Every time i play this record, i'm completely lost. One moment i'm dancing, in other i'm nailed with shadow of close death, which slowly drips from Rainer's lips. And then, suddenly occured to me, maybe is this point of life, dance, man, soon you will be nothing.
And i dance.
Like Ptacek himself sing : "The Saddest song i ever heard was so beautiful.... ". So true.

Bob Dylan - Time out of Mind

Well, summer is almost over, so I'm back :) And since I'm getting older, I have to say, I am more conservative, it is a natural way, it seems. So, today's post is a classic - Bob Dylan. When we talk about Dylan all we hear is a bunch of annoying platitudes, protest poet, blowin in the wind, '60s ... something like that. And the reality is far from it, Dylan was very much alive in all of our present, in different ways, and it is an insult to put it in such narrow limits.
So, from me to You, Mr. Dylan, the year is 1997, and his timeless album "Time Out of Mind." Thematically, this is a lament about the ghosts of love, with a half-dozen great rock mid-tempo songs, just the way I like

So, if you find yourself in this, or maybe you have love problems, here you go, suffer or enjoy with Dylan, whatever you prefer :P

Mark Lanegan Band - Bubblegum

I like this Mark Lanegan album very much. Why? It is typical Lanegan, gloomy, little bit more rock than others. And I like gloomy and i like it when rocks :) There is also one of my favorite singer, P.J. Harvey and his longtime companions from Queens of the Stone Age. And beside that, I like how it sounds.Very primitive sound, muddy, like LP's. Perhaps, I am most attracted with this raw ambient. Lanegan was part of many great music through the years, his talent was obviously recognized. So, there is many chances you already hear this voice. But, if you aren't, here it is..

Lanegan is somewhere on tour right now. So, maybe you can review concert if you like, or give some impression, it will be nice, why not :)

Gene Clark - No Other

This is probably one of the best albums I ever heard. By all means. So, try it, just for me :) Naturally, if you are alternative or hard music fan only, you will say this is boring, slow, etc. But i bet that greatest alternative musicians have this in their own collection. Pure music.

Tarnation - Gentle Creatures

When I was younger I liked to swim in melancholic world of Paula Frazer. It was extremely powerful for me, this new and in the same time very old sound, so exciting. And today? Well, there is no difference :)

Victoria Williams - Loose

This album is so fantastic, words can't help here. Victoria is very strange girl, I can say. By genre, this is Americana, but this is million miles from everything, unique voice in music. Today is the pop time, sweet, nice songs on every corner, even alternative music is pop. It is very boring if you ask me, but I must accept that. Victoria is also Goddess in that context. There are so many beautiful songs on “Loose”. So, if you want drive with her, just jump in car, she is very, very good driver on the way to your new sensibility.
